What an amazing world we live in where we take a step outside to be immersed in full-spectrum light, which includes the colors we see and invisible rays like infrared and ultraviolet light.
To maintain a healthy balance in our bodies, we need to be exposed to full daylight each day. The same areas of the brain that respond to light also maintain and control hormonal balance – including the pineal and pituitary glands which is one of the reasons why it is important to spend a minimum of 20 minutes outside each day.
Unfortunately, modern life is often spent mostly indoors, with artificial electric lighting and away from natural sunlight. This can lead to many various medical conditions including depression, mood swings, hormonal imbalance, insomnia, and low energy. These conditions are often included in what is called Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), which can be corrected by several hours in the sunlight each day.
Color therapy can be healing to the body and mind for those who have experienced some of these symptoms.
What is Color Therapy?
Also known as chromotherapy, color therapy directs light in different spectrum colors onto the body to assist in healing physical, mental, and spiritual energy imbalance.
Whether visualized by a therapist or used by equipment, applying different colors can effectively rebalance different energies within the body.
Each color within the spectrum has its own vibration frequency, and when absorbed by the body, it can provide a wide array of benefits.

Yellow, as the color of the rising sun, can awaken mental awareness. Orange colors are energizing for the body. Green light is often associated with soothing and calming the mind and body. Red light can raise blood pressure with a warming presence. Blue light gives a relaxing presence within the body and can assist with sleep as the shades get darker – an imitation of the night falling.
When directed towards the body, each color has its own magnificent ability to change the balance of energy and has been used by therapists to ease many physical, mental, and spiritual problems.
It comes as no surprise that light frequencies and colors have such an effect on the human body. In fact, research from German scientist Fritz-Albert Popp proved that humans emit light at certain frequencies, and he believed that our metabolism is dependent on light.
Color Healing and Crystals
Crystals have long been used in conjunction with color therapy to assist with many physical and mental problems. For example, blue light can assist with damaged or burned skin, green light has been used to regenerate tissue and heal broken bones, orange light can act as an antidepressant, and pink light can be used to lower aggression.
How do crystals and their colors influence the body and mind?
Science has already shown us that everything on our planet is made of energy – light, trees, rocks, plants, soil, a human being.
Many people are attracted to a certain stone or crystal because it is possible that we are connected with everything around us – some items more than others.
Light is already a powerful source of energy, and when split into different colors of the spectrum, it can have effects on the body and mind. Projecting that light through crystals can have an even stronger effect on our spiritual, physical, and mental properties.
Due to their mineral composition, crystals reflect a variety of different colors and attract us with their beauty, shape, and glow.
Many people may pass off the human body’s connection with crystals as superstition, but often a powerful belief can yield real results.
If you feel that you are drawn to a specific color or type of crystal, it is possible that you need that color energy more in your life, and exploring different crystals based on their color composition can be a great way to begin your journey into color therapy and healing.
